This is funny, partly because I know how much certain people hate James Corden, and partly because it is always good to see celebs taken down a peg.

Part of the Sports Relief show on Saturday night was a sketch done by James Corden, where he is pretending to be “Smithy”, who receives the Coach of the Year Award at Sports Personality. This then turns into a rant at the nations best athletes, well mainly rant, except for the flirting with Victoria Pendleton.
Some of them took it a lot better than others, Dame Kelly Holmes and Paula Radcliffe looked like they were going to cry / kill him. Freddie (I mean Andrew, but who cares?) Flintoff had a similar reaction, but from the work they have been doing together recently on Sky One he is either in on the gag and knew it was coming, or can’t have minded that much.
Nice timing on the Pendleton piece, she currently has a spot on our living room wall, she is the FHM calendar girl for March.
Thoughts?

You may have noticed that my Twitter bio changed, to include a couple of other sites I am now either running or involved with.
Today I wanted to talk a little more about CricHatter.com. A new Cricket (obviously) related site which I have recently set up.

What is it?
A site with Cricket news, editorials on the sport, individual teams or even a single player.
Why?
I love Cricket? There aren’t many sites doing a similar thing? It’s therapeutic? Take your pick…
Where is it going?
I hope to turn it into an advice platform for anyone who wants information about Cricket related matters. Ranging from tips on skills, technique or the game, to advice on equipment, clubs and tours.
Most recently I have been writing about my decision to buy a new Bat this season, there was The Decision… and The Purchase…
Check it out, let me know what you think, follow it on Twitter (@crichatter).
Do you love Cricket too? If you want to contribute let me know…

As you know, I am a huge cricket fan, therefore The Ashes is a very exciting time for me. I can’t think of much interesting stuff to do relating to it at the moment so I will start off by aggregating my tweets for each test.
So here is the first test from Cardiff:

I’ve been neglecting this site a little bit over the last few days, honestly I have an excuse. I have been spending my time working on one of my other sites, the Wantage & Grove Cricket Club site.
Been playing around with the html code, the design and even some PHP stuff, get me hey! Have a look and let me know what you think, it is not fully working yet so bits and bobs are still missing unfortunately.

A lot of recent discussion over what the England cricket team should be, so I thought I would make my ideas public. So will run through who and why.

Yes that’s right, cricket stumps, I am going to write an article about cricket stumps! Purely because they just did a feature at lunch in the cricket on how they work. Admittedly the TV is muted and there are no subtitles so I don’t know anything about them, as the saying goes “a picture says a thousand words”. Lets see, the facts, there are 3 stumps at each end, each 28 inches tall. The gap between them is sensibly too small for the ball to pass through. On top are 2 bails, but this is off topic, maybe worthy of its own post?
Cricket has been played for hundreds and hundreds of years, the first official references dates back to 1550, however it is suspected that the sport runs back earlier. In the last 15 years, one of the stumps has changed. How I hear you desperately asking… blame TV, but they have hollowed out the middle stump and added a little camera. This is the easy bit, its running the cables under the ground to get the signal back to the van that seems tough. They just showed the groundsman / technician (this is where sound would have been helpful) cutting cable runs, and digging holes to hide the wires. All seemed like a lot of effort, is the view it offers worth it? You decide…

Boring cricket post time… well boring to many, but interesting to me, so there! There has been a load of chit chat on the radio last few days about the state of English cricket, and most recently the selection of Darren Pattinson. So what’s going on?

First nets session of the season is today, I’m hungover, tired and feel quite drowsy. This could be a problem! Expect pictures of bruises later today. Glad we had a little practice in Jeffo’s living room yesterday, my bat is however slightly bigger than a role of clingfilm!
