Let’s talk Google Chrome, warning, this will not be the best post you ever read about it, nor will it be the most in depth. But it sure as hell will be entertaining, for me.

Lightning Tracker

socialmedia

I know some people like lightning, and I know some people don’t. Ok, admittedly it’s the thunder they don’t like but as they say, there’s no smoke without fire etc.

Just came across this via Twitter and Sven Latham, a lightning tracker. Basically it shows where and how frequently lightning has hit Europe, check this link for the UK.

On the note of thunder / lightning, when I was in the States I posted about a serious storm coming in, read here, well I got the camera out and shot the picture below. I was impressed!

Uber cool!

Twitter Acquire Summize

socialmedia

Hey guys, so here’s something I covered a while ago. A new search tool for Twitter (my main addiction other than blogging) called Summize. Interesting Summize has already been rebranded as search.twitter.com.

Well it appears that Twitter have liked the look of it too, Techcrunch announce today that Twitter have acquired the much smaller company Summize. Of the 6 Summize staff, 5 will join the Twitter engineering team in California (I know exactly where it is as I’ve been there :D). The Summize founder Jay Verdy has decided to move onto pastures new.

Check out the full article on TechCrunch here.

Auto Upload Embarrassment

socialmedia

This is something which I have been considering for a few weeks now. Recent months I have been using only my N95 8GB to take/post pictures to social networks. I have three tools to do this installed, ShoZu, Locr and Share Online. They will upload to almost anywhere between them, Flickr, Facebook, Ovi, Locr etc etc. All three of these have an option to auto-upload an image the second it is shot. I’m wondering, are there any horror stories out there of people auto-uploading a picture they really didn’t want to?!

The sort of thing I’m thinking about would be a picture of you with someone you shouldn’t be (having an affair are we?), being somewhere you shouldn’t be (parole breaking?), or doing something you shouldn’t be (the imagination can run wild here, but as its before the watershed I will use the example of happy slapping).

Got any stories let me know, personal experiences or “I have a friend who once…” are both fine.

ShoZu Update

socialmedia

Now I’m an avid ShoZu user, if you check out my Flickr account you will see that almost all of my photos are uploaded using it. The only time I don’t is when I am in the States and the data charges would be astronomical. The point I am getting to however is
